Ok guys i have done the new WGA thingy and now it still comes up with wrong
validate key which meens to me my version is not original, the shop i bought
the PC from has now closed down and i cant find out how to get hold of the
fella whom i bought the machine from. I presume i will have to buy an
orignal version of xp pro or buy a key is that possible and if so i dont
want to have to reinstall all my pc as i have a lot of stuff i dont really
want to have to mess around, is it possible to just replace the windows key
with my bought version

If you are getting the following error message when attempting to update:

Error Message: The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default...&Product=winxp

You'll have to purchase a new "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and perform a "Repair Install" using the new Windows XP Pro CD and Product Key
that comes with it. (You cannot simply change the Product Key)

Does this apply:

If so, you can not purchase only a key since your CD would inappropriate for
the new key.
