after installing i tried to activate it but i was told that this product was
already activated. Has i have the origional disk and license this made me
quite angry. Is there anything i can do about this.

Thank you

No, other than report pirate software supplier to MS.
Possibly also Ebay if it was sold as genuine MS

Contact Microsoft by phone about this matter if you have bought an original
CD, they can help you.

If you have been defrauded, you should contact the vendor of the item.

It might be that Darren has bought a original XP version and some one has
written over the installation code to use for his / her illegal copy.

So contacting Microsoft by phone seems to be the right move.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

And what version of Microsoft Windows XP is it? The top of
the retail box version of Microsoft Windows XP Pro has a large,
transparent seal. There is a multi-color COA that has only a
SKU number and not the Product Key. The Product Key is on a
folder, invisible, inside the box. OTOH, the "generic" OEM
version is typically sealed in shrink-wrap with the COA and
Product Key visible. Sure, it is easy to use the OEM PK to
activate other "generic" OEM version. That's the price when
buying from "open" sources vs. reputable dealers and other
bonoa fide, licensed resellers.

Give Microsoft Telephone Activation a call. There should not
be too many issues if the version you have is a genuine, retail
box. For the retail box version, have both the SKU (on the COA)
and PK numbers handy.
