Windows XP Professional and Windows Update

I installed XP Pro 64 bit with SP1 and when I try to do windows update I get
this.
"The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are
trying to view. "

Does anyone have any ideas?

Error 0x8024001D
"The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view"


Re-name the "SoftwareDistribution" folder.

Click Start -> Run =>, Type -> cmd -> Click OK. At the Command prompt, type:

net stop WuAuServ
exit

Click Start -> Run =>, Type -> %windir% -> Click OK.
Rename the folder "SoftwareDistribution" to "SDOLD"

Click Start -> Run =>, Type -> cmd -> Click OK. At the Command prompt, type:

net start WuAuServ
exit

Try the Windows Update site again. It will take time to rebuild the folder, so be patient for a
good 5-10 minutes.



If the error persists, rename "CatRoot2" folder:

Close all the open windows.
Click Start -> Run =>, Type -> %windir% -> Click OK.
Double-click the System32 folder.
Rename the "CatRoot2" folder to "CR2OLD".
Try the Windows Update site again.

You receive a "Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the
requested page" error message when you try to install an update
