Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 Failed installation

Hi all. I was under the impression that I downloaded the service pack 2
without a problem because i have automatic windows update and service pack 2
does not appear. when i looked in my installation history it said that
download of service pack 2 failed three times. I keep searching for updates
and service pack 2 does not appear.
How can I try and install this again? I have been looking all over the
MIcrosoft website and have not found anything to help me.. Please respond,

Right click on My Computer, choose Properties. On the General tab does
it say Service Pack 2?
