Dear,

Could someone help me with problem, why the sistem Windows XP Professional
X64 Edition does not let to install the SP2 (Service pack 2) Update on my
computer?
When I select the update It starts installing the SP2 update, but then at
the end I get the error: Access is denied.

Thank you.

Kind regards.

When you download and install the stand-alone installation version:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

What happens?

I have problem with this error: 0x80070005 (Access is denied).

I think that the access to some regkeys is denied and that probably some are
missing.
Is there any good solution or software program to solve this problem?

Thank you.

Regmon is a Registry monitoring utility that will show you which applications are
accessing your Registry, which keys they are accessing, and the Registry data that they
are reading and writing - all in real-time

I know. I have tried this two programs.
I also tried the Windows Live OneCare. The program found the problem just in
registry files:
HKCR\Iisctl.IisServiceControl\
HKCR\Iisctl.IisServiceControl.1\
HKCR\MBSA2.Scanner\CurVer\

Is this the problem? I tried all the solving techincs and no luck. I hope
that Microsoft will fix this BUG, this is not ok. :/

Thank you.

Thanks, TaurArian. Everything in the MS kb applied . . . except that
whenever I set logging to verbose, it kept getting changed back (I even tried
changing it again midstream, etc.) so I couldn't figure out where the problem
was. Regmon allowed me to find and correct the problem.

KB that almost gives a solution:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=873148

Regmon (the sysinternals site is blocked by our filters but the utility is
also available through technet):
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sys...es/regmon.mspx

My restricted keys were:
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\EventLog\Se curity\Security
HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet004\Services\EventLog\Securi ty\Security

Thanks. :-)
