I'm trying to install Recovery Console as a boot option on Windows XP Home
Edition using the original XP disk I got with the system. Since original
istallation, the XP OS on my hard drive has been modified with various
patches and service packs (SP2).
When I Run: D:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons I get this Windows Setup error:
"Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is
newer than the version on the CD."

Any ideas on options?

Hi

If you have upgraded to SP2 and you are using a CD from a previous version
of XP, you will see that error message. To install the Recovery Console in
SP2, you will need to create a slipstreamed SP2 CD.

You can download the SP2 file (266 MBs) from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en -
or if you have a copy of the SP2 CD, you can copy the xpsp2.exe file from
that CD onto your hard disk/partition and use that:

then follow the directions in the following article to create a slipstreamed
XP CD:
