Hi,

I recently ran Windows Update and it found the "Windows XP Service Pack 3"
update. I have selected to download it and when the confirmation screen pops
up I have agreed with the Terms and Conditions etc. but then nothing happens
it says "verifying download" but nothing downloads or installs and the
progress bar stays at zero.

I have left it for over 2 hours and nothing happens and I have tried to
download it again but each time I get the same problem.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem or is there a fix for this?

Thanks for your time.

If you are not able to install it from Windows update, try this link.
DOwnload it like another program and install it. This should help

It says this download package is for IT Professionals and Developers but I'm
only a home personal user so can I still use this version?

Also on Windows update it says the file is only 66mb where as this download
is 316mb.

Of course.

Don't use that one. Download and burn the .ISO, which is about 549MB,
and burn the .ISO image to a CD and use that. Be sure and disable your
AV and ALL anti malware programs. I would also do a clean up and defrag
before the install as well.

Where do I get the .ISO from and do I just copy the file to a CDR?

Use Nero to burn the .ISO image to a CDR.

Hi Yorky, yes you can use the download from the link provided. The difference
in size is that the link provides the full download package and Windows
update only downloads the parts that you need.

But before you do anything, make sure that you are ready for SP3 -
