Windows XP Software Update (Windows XP Service Pack 2)
Download was fine but when I tried to install the following it failed… this
error was reported: ERROR CODE: 800710D9
UNABLE TO READ FROM OR WRITE TO THE DATABASE

Service Pack Installation did not complete….
Any suggestions....

Hi

Most likely you need to delete or rename the .log files in the folder
%windir%\Security\ (and maybe in %windir%\System32\CatRoot2\ as well).

(%windir% is typically C:\Windows)

I have created a batch file that does exactly this (and some
additional steps as well).
