Hi,
This behavior is expected due to Windows Update controlling the rate at
which Windows XP Service Pack 2 is released. For the health of the overall
internet, the Service Pack needs to be slowly released to machines. This
prevents the internet ecosystem from becoming overburdened.
If you would like Windows Update to download updates automatically without
prompting you for please follow the steps below.
1. Click Start
2. Click Control Panel
3. Double-click the System icon
4. Select the Automatic Updates tab
5. Select the item labeled Download updates for me, but let me choose when
to install them.
