Did a complete system restore. Initial build requires all the Microsoft
updates. ...I get an ERROR Code : 0 x 80070017
I tried the "regsvr32 wuaeng1.dll" fix, but get another error message saying
that it can't locate the module. NOW WHAT ... any suggestions for a fix?

Hello Gregory,

0x80070017 -2147024873 ERROR_CRC Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for
installation are available, and restart the installation.

Here's a thread involving a user with a similar problem (but with Vista) and
how it was solved in that OS version.

<http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?&lang=en&cr=US&guid=&sloc=en-us&dg=microsoft.public.windowsupdate&p=1&tid=d8544 a72-2461-4c05-b0d8-81099d2f8f7b&mid=d8544a72-2461-4c05-b0d8-81099d2f8f7b>

I'm not sure it is of any use in the XP context, but it might be of
interest anyway:

Good luck

As Engel posted, that error code shows a crc failure. Such a failure is
usually
related to hardware. Since you downloaded the update, there are plenty of
places
for such an error to enter.

You should try another download.
