I have just re-installed XP Home (pre sp1 & sp2) using a recovery disk
supplied with the laptop. I then installed SP1 using a previously supplieed
Microsoft Disk and had no problems. When I connect to the Windows update
site the ActiveX control was downloaded. The status check then starts, but
keeps going for about 1 hour and then generates the message "Error 0x8ddd0009
Website has encountered a problem". The laptop then freezes. I have tried
clearing the windows update folder and temp internetfiles and re-trying, but
keep getting the same problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.
