Not an Idiot User ... it's the update that has an issue not you nor your
system. Open one of those nonsensically named folders and it should
contain the installation log for MS06-071: Security update for Microsoft
XML Core Services 4.0
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../MS06-071.mspx
Download the update from here and save it:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Close the browser and any other open programs. If any printing has been
done, restart the system.
Now run msxml4-KB927978-enu.exe and choose REMOVE from the options
presented. If the system asks to be restarted again, do so.
Now run msxml4-KB927978-enu.exe to install it. Restart if requested to.
You can safely delete all of the randomly/nonsensically named folders.
