Windows XP Update

I was not paying attention while turning off my computer last night, and I
did not notice it was installing automatic updates before shutting down and
logging off. I assume these were Windows XP updates because the update
notification was on my usual Windows log-off page. Anyway, when my wife
turned the computer back on this morning, she had to re-sign in as one would
when starting a brand new computer. Once in, she discovered the icons for
several programs on our desktop had disappeared, as had all the pictures in
My Pictures and documents in My Documents. All the previous addresses were
wiped out of email accounts. I tried doing a System Restore to the day before
this happened (Thursday), but that did not help; in fact, I lost a couple
more things I had saved on the desktop since the update. Does anyone know if
there is a way to retrieve what was lost?

Data Recovery Software: Giving New Life to Lost Data
Whether it's on purpose or not, we've all lost or deleted data that we'd
love to get back. Now, with the help of data recovery software, you can
recover your data and make your regrets disappear instead.
Why Data Recovery Software?
Have you ever spent hours on a document only to have the power go out,
discover that you failed to save your work and lose everything you'd worked
on? Have you ever turned on your computer to find that a virus has wiped
much of your hard drive clean? Perhaps you've even deleted an email out of
your trash bin only to find that you desperately needed the information
within it for work? All of these are very real problems and data recovery
software is an equally real solution for all of them.

Through data recovery software you can recover files that were compressed
and encrypted. You can perform data recovery on deleted emails, recover
files from hard drives located within a network or create image files of
your hard drive for easier data recovery.

With the latest generation of data recovery software you can also recover
files that have been deleted from your recycle bin, have become damaged or
are stored on a hard drive, CD or DVD that has developed bad sectors.

Today's data recovery software typically supports multiple types of hard
drives and removable media, including USB drives, CDs and so on.

But the best thing about data recovery these days is that it's so easy to
use. Frankly, today's software is so user friendly that anyone—whether
amateur or expert—can find and retrieve data that at one time would have
been considered, well, history

Start a free Windows Update support incident request:
https://support.microsoft.com/oas/de...spx?gprid=6527

For home users, no-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in
the United States and in Canada or by contacting your local Microsoft
subsidiary. There is no-charge for support calls that are associated with
security updates.
