Try as I might I have not been able to install the following recently
released updates:
- Security Update for Windows XP (KB840315)
- Update for Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0 and
WinHTTP5.1 (KB842773)
- Security Update for Windows XP (KB841873)
The install process appears to go alright, but at the end of it up comes the
Installation Failed - Try Again page. I guess I've tried about 10 times, all
to no avail.

You Cannot Install Some Updates or Programs “Digital Signature not found”
When you use the Windows Update Web site to install updates, the installation
fails and the Windows Update.log file contains error 80070643.

If all else fails, download them from the catalog and try a manual install

You can download them from the Catalog and save to be installed later.

How to Download Windows Updates and Drivers from the Windows Update Catalog
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=323166

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what you
want, Click the “Go To Download Basket” link. Type in or browse to the location
where you want the updates saved to and then Click the “Download Now” button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

Out of ideas, perhaps search google for your error message or you can repost a
new thread with your error message and advise what steps you've already
undertaken etc. and what lead to the problem.
Good luck.

I have the exact same problem with those updates and SP2. If you find a
solution please post.

Well, a huge group of people seems to have the same problem, and this problem
has yet to be solved.
Check the windowsupdate.log I got after trying to run the WU installer.
Don't get fooled by the SRSetRestorePoint failure. With System Restore
Service enabled, the problem persists.
KB-article 822798 does *not* give the solution to this problem.

Hi

Do you have a KB834707.log in your Windows folder?

You can open it like this from Start/Run (use the *exact* text):

notepad.exe %windir%\KB834707.log

If it exists, what is the content?
