This is a Dell Optiplex GX400. I tried a system restore. I have been
successfully downloading and installing windows updates as admin. I have
tried using our domain network connection and a stand alone cable connection.
I have tried these updates with no other software apps loaded including
Symantec. I turned off firewall. I "msconfig" and turned off all un-needed
start up drivers and devices via safe mode (diagnostic testing options). I
tried re-regeristing win xp pro. dll's via
www.geocities.com/batchfix
Level 1 MS Win tech was not able to solve the prob. so they have moved issue
to level 2 and will get back to me in 24.
