This isn't really the correct newsgroup to ask such a question, because it
supports the Windows Update and Microsoft Update web sites, not updating
computers in general.
However, you may want to start with this information:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/e...n/compare.mspx Keep in mind
that there are "upgrade" versions which are less expensive than "regular" XP
versions, but require the qualifying media or existing installations.
Depending on your present computer, you should investigate initially whether
it is a good candidate to upgrade. That would include the hardware in your
present computer. There are links at the URL above to help you determine
these things.
Pay close attention to the preparation process, too. You can actually lose
all the information on your current system, unless you go through initial
steps properly. Weigh your choices, investigate, read the information
available on the Expert Zone (URL above has a link) and if you have any
questions, ask in the microsoft.public.windowsxp.general newsgroup.
