Windows XP won't accept updates

I just reformatted my disk and reinstalled XP Home. Now, my computer won't
accept updates. I don't even have SP1 installed yet. But when I run Windows
Update I am told that there are no critical updates to download

go to microsoft.com/downloads and download/install SP2

I checked the MS download site and you can't DL just SP2. According to the
site, SP2 is delivered and installed via Wndows Update. Anyone else have any
suggestions or an alternative approach? Thanks.

i am having same problm i got a command promt to try now i get a error

Step 1 gives options for getting SP-2.
