Hey michel.
I looked for an error code after re-boot but it did not appear to be in hex
or whatever format they use and it did not offer a solution after I
submitted. It does not apear to be a hardware issue, since it did not occur
on boot, but only after trying to do a search on dogpile and also when trying
to open a WMA via Outlook 2007. It would reboot if the computer sat idel too
long as well. It's a major glitch for sure. I have heard others say it's
related to the ABIT N-Force chipset drivers, but that still seems odd to me
since I could boot just fine and run other apps. That being said, it's still
very possible that it is a hardware driver issue of some sort, but I am
reluctant to say it's anything to do with video at this point. Possibly it's
a sound card issue?? I have the M-Audio Delta 192 with the XP 64 bit
drivers. I don't know how that relates to logging in to MSN though. I had
IE7 installed prior to the XP 64 SP2 update, so that also may be an issue. I
still say that the update was pushed too fast. The people in the test center
are not getting the stuff right. I use my PC as a recording tool for Sonar
64 bit software. Most people who run XP 64 use it for Aduio/ Video or
gaming, and that should have been the test bed for this update. I run the
Geforce 8800 768MB video card on this computer and the drivers have been very
stable until this SP2 for XP 64 update. I am sure there will be many people
looking at this thread in the future. We run
www.comfortpc.com here in Grays
Harbor WA, and we do a lot of work for musicians and film editors. I am
advising my clients to shy away from this update until MS fixes the problems.
Sorry I do not have the error code, as I have uninstalled the SP2 update for
XP 64, but I really don't think it would have been much help as it was a
generic code and did not apear to be relavent to any sort of hardware driver.
I have had simular issues with office 2007 so the problem my be there as
well. Possibly some sort of plug in from office 2007 for IE7. Just like
vista error codes: I am left without a clue.
Thanks for your help though!
