Windowsupdate error 0x8024002e.

Hi,

Windows update suddenly stopped working for me. I get the following in
my windowsupdate.log

2004-10-21 16:37:21-0400 1552 d6c WU client fails
CClientCallRecorder::BeginFindUpdates from WindowsUpdate with error
0x8024002e
2004-10-21 16:37:21-0400 3980 adc
ISusInternal::BeginFindUpdates failed, hr=8024002E
2004-10-21 16:37:21-0400 3980 adc Unable to initiate
asynchronous search, hr=8024002E

I saw some other postings here that mention a file
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\Logs\ebd .chk.

This file exists for me but is binary format so Im not sure if there
is anything I should do to it.

Ive also double checked the registry to ensure there are no policies
set to disable windows update.

Any ideas??

In case it helps anyone I found the answer. My company had pushed some
group policy down that disabled windows update.

I had to fix the registry settings at
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\WindowsUp date
