When I click on the link to Windows Update, via Start button or via the
Windows Update in Tools in Internet Explorer it winds up on a blank page.

I can manually goto update.microsoft.com and everything works well.
Automatic updates also seem to be not working, I think it is linked somehow.

Running Windows XP

It is possible that your installation of IE6 is damaged. You might try the
repair script at:
http://iefaq.info/index.php?action=a...=31&artlang=en

It is possible that a third-party firewall or anti-malware product might be
obstructing Windows Update: disable all such applications before trying
Windows Update.

Thank you for the reply, I have tried this and sadly, no luck. I am running
SP2 and everything was working fine with forwarding before installing SP2 and
recent hotfixes. Might it of had something to do with doing unattended type
installs of all of them? using /q /n /z

Firefox forwards just fine, course it can't update though.

UPDATE:
Automatic updates seem to be working correctly, not linked. IE6 isn't
forwarding to update.windows.com with IP addresses 207.46.18.94 or
207.46.225.221.

When loading windowsupdate.microsoft.com, I have seen it try to connect to
one of the above IP addresses then instead of loading update.microsoft.com,
its still windowsupdate.microsoft.com and then says done.
