WindowsUpdate is OK, but MicrosoftUpdate is not OK

Hi

I wanted to change several computers from WindowsUpdate to MicrosoftUpdate
so that we don't have to check for Updates in Office seperately. But when I
change to MicrosoftUpdate and scan for updates, the green bar runs from left
to right for hours but nothing happens. If I then change back to
WindowsUpdate and scan for updates again, the green bar runs for about 30-60
seconds and then I see all the updates available for Windows.

First I thought it is a problem with my computer, but I see this happening
on many computers that have run (automatic an manual) WindowsUpdate for long
time. WindowsUpdate works, but MicrosoftUpdate hangs.

Any idea to solve this?

Alain,
there are many posts regarding the issues with MS Updates. I also had the
same problem and there are many suggestions and fixes posted. However the
fixes vary depending upon the error code you received. Here's what you do.
Note the error code. Should look like any other MS error code. The most
popular one is 0x8DDD0009. you'll see this at the top right corner fter the
MS updates failure page posts. Then Google that error code and you'll get
more hits than you wished for. Good luck.

Obviously, don't use Microsoft Update.

nice joke, thanks. But MicrosoftUpdate seems to be a good thing (if it's
working) and comfortable because it updates so many software automatically.
I don't think that many users update their Microsoft Word regularly if they
do not use MU.
