Windows Update v5 site has been giving thousands of clients ulcers,
headaches, and not much else since the last batch of updates were posted
there Wednesday.
Of the numerous issues mentioned on these and other boards across the Net;
folks:
- can't access site
- after access, pc hangs while MS scans for "latest version..."
- getting knocked off while MS scans for "latest version"
- updates download okay but don't install
- updates say they install okay but need to be re-installed after re-boot
- updates say they install okay, but no sound or internet after reboot
- start-up freezes, logins freeze, restore points don't exist anymore......
Any of these symptoms sound familiar ?????? HMMMM ?????
Well, I've spent the last 9 hours uninstalling and re-installing all the
"variables" I've added to my personal PC mix over the last 5 days and the end
result is the same:
Apparently nothing I'VE done has caused this; and probably you guys as well.
Itz T H E M ........ N O T us
Microsoft, does however, respond to itz clusterbombs pretty quickly so
expect some press out of this and probably a "Solution from BILL" within the
next 48 Hours.

Don't spend alot of time trying to outfox the fox. If you can use your box
till Oz can fix it USE IT, but don't spend a lot of time blaming yourself.
Point and CLICK>.

I think you nailed it. I lost all Restore Points including the one that was
set immediately before installing The Updates on 6/15. Its not Malware, its
not Viruses, its not Hardware. It's the Updates. I anxiously await the
solution from Oz. Pay no attention to the Man behind the Curtain....

As one of "the lucky ones" (and I use that term loosely) who has just
recently been affected, I find this astonishing. The irony is that the worse
the system becomes, support becomes non-existent....unless you care to spend
hours trying to understand someone with a very foreign accent trying to tell
you that you need to "Miss Joy I undertstand and from what you are telling me
please you need to (a)reformat your hard drive, or(B) reformat your hard
drive or (C)((let's say it all together)) reformat your hard drive. Pull-eeze
Mr Bates, you can do better for your millions of customers than this!!!!
Yeesh!
