If Windows Vista Update fails with error 80245003

Maby you have this problem: You try to update your Windows Vista RC1 / RC2
desktop and you get the error that you cannot update with error 80245003

Then you can try this what i found on the net:

Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder (it will be recreated next time you
visit
WU again)
You will lose your history but that’s not important.Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.Rename the “SoftwareDistribution”
folder:
a. Click Start, click Run, type %systemroot%, and then click OK.
b. Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.
c. Type SoftwareDistribution.old, and then press ENTER to rename this folder.

Click Start. Choose Run.
In the Run box, type services.msc.
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.

A question that is bugging several PAID owners was asked. Advice to post to
the beta newsgroup (which is over) is a waste of bandwidth. If you can't
offer a decent suggestion then shut down and go back to Solitaire.

update guys! i called microsoft and they walked me through it. what i did: i
made a new folder called softwaredistribution.old. i CUT and pasted all the
contents of the softwaredistribution folder into the new .old folder. (all
the ones windows would let me copy that is, don't worry if it refuses to let
you copy a few of them.) then i rebooted, and windows update worked again for
me!

I simply stated that there is a special newsgroup for Beta testers and as
such problems should be posted there which is more appropriate than using the
regular WU newsgroup. As the OP had downloaded the beta update client he
would then have access to the appropriate NG "which is not over".

I'm going back to solitaire now ..................................

Thank you for advising me I'm wasting my time here!
