WindowsUpdate_8024D00A WindowsUpdate_dt000

Just minding my own business and decided to check for any windows updates
because I saw a flash informing me that an upgrade for Windows Vista was
available to address some minor problems with my computer. Anyway, when I
tried to check for any updates, I received a notice telling me that "Windows
could not search for new updates" and the following subject was displayed
"WindowsUpdate_8024D00A WindowsUpdate_dt000". A search of the online
Knowledge Base turned up no results??? Any ideas what is going on here???

Click start, type 'windowsupdate.log' and hit <enter>, then copy/paste the
details from the most recent session (at the bottom) into a reply.

Rick,

I have been fighting the same problem for about a week. Having read your
message to Michele I hope she won't mind if you help me also. Part of todays

Did I misunderstand? Was that only supposed to be a beta version?

I did not install it till the beginning of May because I was building a new

Hi Mark,

Apparently you were given one of the prerelease builds, not a final version.
I wasn't at any of the launches, so I don't know what they were handing out.
Run winver from the start prompt, the final build is 6000, if yours reads
otherwise then you have a beta build and it's no longer being supported.
You'd have to purchase a release version if this is the case.

Robert,

Did you find out if there was supposed to be an upgrade for those who went
to the launch? Or are we supposed to go out and buy the upgrade. I'm supposed
to have a valid license so I thought they might have a demo version on the MS
website that I could download. I was then going to apply my license to that.
I can't find any info. on this. Please, let me know if you discover anything.
