Windowsupdates fail

Running Win XP SP3 with auto updating

Two updates 977713 and 976881 fail to install and auto updates keeps
prompting me that I have updates available. Both give the general failure
messages with no codes according to Microsoft website.

I've tried to manually download files and update, and they still fail with
no information as to why.

Any suggestions?

Have your Office 2003 installation CDs in the CD drive when installing the
updates?

Repair your installation of Office 2003?

Reset your Windows Update system using the Microsoft tool?
