WindowXP Pro SP3

I am trying to update to WinXP Pro SP3 from SP2. My computer is set for
Automatic Updates and all these have been performed...The system gets about
halfway on the bar, I am not sure what stage of the install it was at I had
a halt error...access denied. Install Failed. The system then automatically
went into an un install process and then rebooted after I hit okay. I
disabled the virus can software after a reboot and then tried to install. No
luck.
Any suggestions ideas, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Error message when you try to install Windows XP Service Pack 3: "Access is
denied" or "Service Pack installation did not complete"
