I don't even know how you could try to do that :-)

I'd suggest that you boot to command prompt (repeatedly press F8 just
before and during Windows startup and select "boot to command prompt"; you
will need to use the keyboard, not the mouse.

When it is booted, run the command "sfc /scannow", without the quotes and
followed by the enter key. It will take a long time, IIRC, so wait and hope
for the best.

Thanks for replying,
I tried to fix it until six in the morn! All this i was doing using the
task manager and used 'new task-->browse' to go through different files
and folders. I was even able to access internet without the explorer.
 During this fixing session somewhere i had cleaned my c drive
using cleanmgr.exe and then created a task cleanmgr. I had also used
trial version of registry booster to fix 15 of my registry problems. The
next day i just logged in safe mode and opened the 'properties' of
explorer.exe (the copy which i got along with the theme) and restored it
back to previous session (one day prior to app crash)...
then i went in task manager --> new task--> opened the restored
explorer.exe to find my windows explorer back on the screen. Then i
replaced this restored version of explorer.exe in the windows folder.
since then the start up is normal. I did not get the "missing ordinal"
message too.

So dont know what exactly worked:
ShellExView (used to disable non MS components)
registry booster
cleanmgr.exe
previous session of explorer.exe

but something miraculously recovered my pc...lolz :roflmao:

Well, I would say it was pure blind luck. You seem to have messed around a
lot, so I'd say you're lucky you could recover.

I wouldn't trust anything that provides its own explorers without lots of
assurances from knowledgeable people, and I wouldn't trust any third party
cleanup or registry software...
