After installing SP3, I have one workstation fail out of 5 with the BSoD of
Stop C000139 on GDI32.dll

Pressing F8 and picking "Disable auto restart on failure" showed me the error.
I thought MS had worked for weeks to fix this error... apparently they didn't.

This machine is a Dell 745 with an Intel chipset.

All the post i read about this error was for Non-Intel based systems...
apparently that is wrong too....

I guess i will be restoring the GDI32.dll from the service pack to fix this
system now... geez

Continual reboots or can only boot into Safe Mode after installing WinXP
SP3?

Workarounds:

1. Boot into Safe Mode and rename INTELPMM.SYS to INTELPMM.OLD.

2. After booting into Safe Mode:

Start | Run | (copy/paste) sc config intelppm start= disabled | OK | Reboot
into normal (Windows) mode.

• You receive a “Stop 0x0000007E” error message after you upgrade to Windows
XP Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3 on a non-Intel-processor-based computer

Hit there,

Installed it here on 3 AMD systems 2 X264 and one socket A and one intel
Core Duo system without any problem, I however never use registry cleaners,
any cleaning if needed is done by hand.

So I guess something must be conflicting in your system?

It is undoable to test all relaesed software on a service pack.

Best regards,
Michel Denie

It's no just limited to AMD machines, Kerry. It's been seen in many OEM
installs of WinXP where Sysprep was used. See
