Hello dean-dean
Yes, the file is showing in the Startup (Start > Run > msconfig > Startup)
I also found it via regedit >
HKLM>Software>microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
It does not lend itself to what it is, but I found it in System32 folder.
'Properties' says it's Manufacturer is "unknown", has no extension (they are
turned on BTW), it is 1,474,650 bytes with 1,478,656 on the drive) created on
November-02-06 (2002 or 2006?) @ 1:47:18 AM, modified on November-02-06 @
2:45:07 AM and Accessed on November-02-06 @3:39:13 AM, is a Read Only file,
with no Copyright information. Via msconfig > Startup, the command is,
WinxDiagUpdate. No exe, com, no extension and unlike all the others listed
therein, it does not give a path.
But, I did find it in the System32 folder and Properties describes it as a
"System file"
I run AVG anti-virus, pretty reliable so far, and have the Vista black-ops
Windows Defender running, with Firewall open, and a firewall via router.
I disabled the blinking thing via MSconfig, and checked via Ctrl-Alt-Del >
TaskManager that it is not in Applications or Processes running. I have a
Win98 with only 512 meg ram on a 500Mhz that runs faster than Vista. I'm
checking that out, but with WinxDiagUpdate disabled, and even M$ doesn't have
it listed anywhere, makes one wonder what it might have already done.
