WinXp 64bit boot crash

Hi !

I bought a new PC and it SHOULD be a complete 64bit ready system.
Brief description:

Shuttle XPC Barebone SN26P
NVIDIA RAID nForce4 (Configured as STRIPE 0)
2X Hitachi Deskstar Turbo 250Mb SATA III Hard Drives
2X 1Gb Kingston CL2 DDR400
AMD 4800 X2 processor
2 X ASUS GTX7800 Graphic card

I first installed WinXP Professional and partitioned the Stripe into 3
partitions.
C: for Windows XP Professional
D: for Windows XP 64-bit
E: Data

Then I downloaded from the NVIDIA site the latest NVIDIA SATARAID and
SATA_IDE drivers to install the 64bit edition
(nForce4_x16_6.83_winxp64_international.exe).
Made the floppy (btw, 64bit and still Floppy ???)
Installed the 64-bit re-formatting the D partiton so that I was sure the
drivers were the latest ones, maybe it was not necesary, but I didn't know.

Result: Installation succesful, reboot, boot choice (go for 64-bit), Windows
loading screen, freeze, reboot, and so on... rebooting everytime.

Removed the autoreboot option and found that loading ends into blue screen
with a message about a virus which may have eventually infected my hard disk.
?????

Impossible ! Unbelievable.

The full text message I don't know, but I signed the error code, it is:
0X0000007B(0XFFFFFADFC8C0F3C0,0XFFFFFFFFC0000034,0 X000000000000000,0X000000000000000)

I believe there can be a problem with the RAID system which may be
unsupported, but it should not be since NVIDIA releases the 64bit drivers.

So what ? I tried reinstalling and repairing and got always the same message.

Can anyone help me, please ?

Thanks in advance to anyone who will care.

Igor

Of course I already read all what I could recognize as RAID problem into this
Forum, but so far I couldn't see "The Solution" anywhere.

If anybody did fix it somehow, please put in here the link to such post, I
don't want to bother with known issues.

Thanks

Yes, it's "inaccessible boot device". The drivers are apparently not working
correctly. The solution is updated drivers. I suggest checking the drivers
at www.planetamd64.com. Others have reported success with those. Also, I'm
not familiar with your board, but make sure that you have the exact model
number controller that the SATA drives are plugged in to.

There have also been some reports, but not consistent ones, of problems with
some SATA II hard drives, specifically the Hitachi drives. If you can force
them to SATA I, I would suggest it. (I know my Samsung drives have a jumper
to force SATA I only.)

I am curious as to where you found SATA III drives? The last I heard,
they just came out with SATA II.

Ops, just a typho

I was thinking to the 300Mb/sec and I wrote SATA III, of course they are
SATA II.

No chance

neither it's possible to switch to SATA I (there are no jumpers), nor the
drivers from planetamd64 did change the situation.
About the Hitachi software, I only found Ftool-ver200.exe on their site,
it's useful just to "tune" a bit the HD performances, but not to turn them to
SATA I.

What a pity, I have to give up, it's nonsense to have a RAID system and to
not use it because the OS is so "sensitive".

I'm quite sure if I would remove the RAID it will work, but I'm not going to
reinstall everything because of XP64, I'll try again in future when new
drivers will be up, but I don't have much hope that things will turn better.

Anyhow, thank you for your kind answers, best regards

Igor

Sorry, I didn't explain myself correctly:

thank you John, but this is the tool I already downloaded, it just came with
another name "Ftool-ver200.exe " but it's the same one.

The point is that when I try to change SATA settings it answers "This option
is not valid for the selected disk".

Which means they are SATA 2 and you keep them SATA 2.
Rich !

The only thing I could do was to downgrade the DMA to disabled, which I
tried with no results on the Win64 boot error (of course I changed it into
the BIOS as well).

I'm tired of all these problems, I thought XP 64-bit was not like LINUX, but
here in the forum I see it's like you are the settlers going to the Wild West.
Missing drivers, many troubles, etc...

I don't have such time to spend on a product, I need it usable and this is
simply not, or, at least, not for me.

Thank you so much for your kind support, I think it's a great thing what
you're doing in here even if it didn't work for me.
I hope sooner or later I'll fix this problem, when so, I'll post it here.

Best regards

Igor
