WinXP sp2 cannot update

Hi,
I decided to update Windows XP Prof sp2 today and I get about 8 updates
listed. I click install and an hour latter NOTHING. So I tried it via the
custom method and deicded to do the oldest one first. - Same problem.
Finally I noticed one update addressed a windows update issue concerning
firewalls. Tried that one alone then even turned off my firewall (NIS v2005)
and NAV 2005. Again nothing.
Anyone have any ideas. I also tried it via automatic updates. Then used the
"notifiy me method".
This time got message with no error number but gave the list of updates and
said they were not installed! Redid several times with the same result.
I have a Pentium 4, 512MB Ram, 2.2Ghz Speed and a 60Gig hd that is only 40%
fill. WinXP Pr Sp2.

Same problem here. I have updated my XP to SP2 long time ago. Since
then I am not able to update my OS despite of trying various methods
like Brian. It only says "Updates were unable to be successfully
installed."
Btw, I am running Windows Update v5.
I appreciate if some body can steer me in the right direction.

same thing here, a guy that fixes the computers at work said to go on
microsft.com and download k???????.exe and that would fix it. can any one
fill in the question marks for me, possibly with a link

He might be refering to the script host file. I did use this for other
issues but doen't work on this problem.
