winxp sp3 update keeps failing!!!

I have tryed to update a million times and it will not give an error code but
just says
download failed. I have added the site to my firewall exceptions and I don't
know what else to do. I can not update anything. Please help!

To add to Bear's suggestions,
you might try downloading the SP3 installation file (.exe) to your
hard drive and use this file instead of using the Windows Update
web site.

Where to download the SP3 installation file:
(File is large but will only install components that your PC requires)
