WinXP SP3 Windows Firewall corruption

We have 2 PCs. I installed the WinXP SP3 download on both machines (mine and
my roommate's). My machine seems fine, but my roommate's is not. I no longer
can see my roommate's files and printers via "My Network Places". (This had
been working for years.) Upon further investigation it appears the Windows
Firewall has been corrupted on my roommate's machine. When I try to access
roommate's Windows Firewall, I get the following message box:

"Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall
settings."

Now, I found a post out there speaking of a fix for the Windows firewall:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/sharedaccess.htm

.... but I'm worried about using that fix (running sharedaccess.reg) on SP3
(vs SP2).

Please advise.

Should make no difference. As far as I know - there were no major changes
to the firewall in SP3.
