WinXP Update Page Error

In the bottom left hand corner of the page there is a little yellow triangle
with the words "Error on page" next to it.

And the page is blank with no choice of "express" or "custom" install.
Any thoughts as to what when wrong and how to fix this thing?

That means you have encountered a script error.
Doubleclick on that icon to see more detail.
For possible help use the Windows Update Troubleshooter
- from the Windows Update home page
- click on Help and support
- click on Try the Windows Update troubleshooter
- enter script
