Wireless Issue

I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop with an Intel Pro/Wireless 3945abg
adapter. This is a one month old machine with Vista Home Premium
pre-installed. My wifi radio indicator just shuts off for no apparent reason
on occasion. It may work fine for a couple of hours, or it may shut off
after 5 to 10 minutes. It's random. The only way to get it back on is to
restart the computer. I have been on the phone with Dell tech support and
they installed the xp driver for this adapter. It worked fine for a few days
then the problem came back. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 2 different
versions of the driver from both the Dell site and the Intel site. I
currently have the latest vista driver for the adapter according to the Intel
web site. When the problem happens, the wifi indicator light shuts off and I
get a limited connectivity indication. The only network that I see is mine.
When I disconnect from my network, I see no networks (several are in the
neighborhood) since the wifi is turned off. I have a D-Link router which
should be compatible according to D-Link. I also have an XP laptop which
never drops a wireless connection. I don't know what else to do or
troubleshoot. This is a very frustrating problem. I also have Trend Micro
internet security preinstalled. I have been through all the settings for
this program to no avail, thinking it may have something to do with the
problem. I still suspect a driver issue but I can't be sure. Does anyone
have any ideas?

If your Wireless Access Point is using the default radio channel #6. Try
to move it to a higher numbered channel. I frequently find issues with
neighborhoods where all the detected networks/routers are on Channel 6.
Sometimes within a home using Channel 6 the network can't be detected
in another room, but changing the channel makes it available.

I changed the channel from 6 to 11 a few days ago. It did not help the
problem. Thanks for your reply.

knowledgeable folks there.

I have the exact same problem, I tried disabling the option that would
disable wireless for battery life but that did nothing. My laptop is also a
E1505 with the same wireless card; I am using Vista Ultimate. If you found a
solution could you post it here? I am tired of restarting! What makes this
tough is that Vista seems to think the wireless is simply disabled, however
when I try to enable, it fails to do so.

I am having a similar issue with my Dell D620. It seems like the issue is
related to the power management feature of Vista. When the laptop goes into
sleep mode the network connection drops and cannot resuming the network
connection. I noticed that if you disable the NIC and enable it again it will
connect. I have not found any solution yet. Anyone else have same issue?

I have the exact same problem. Although I have a Fujitsu T4210 tablet pc with
Vista Business installed. However it uses the same Intel Pro/Wirelss 3945abg
adapter. Sometimes it would work for the whole day, other times it just stop
working after a few minutes of starting up. The first symptom shows "Limited
Connectivity" at which point no other wifi can be discovered and all I can do
is disconnect. Once disconnected, refreshing the wifi list is instantaneous
and returns no result. If I go check network connections, my wireless
connection is disabled. If I attempt to enable it, it will say "Enabling..."
but fails to actually do so.
My Windows XP desktop, which also connects to the same wireless connection,
remains connected.

Vista on my Dell D420 works fine with the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945abg
chipset (on the mobo).

I have done the following on my D420:
1) Disable the DHCP broadcast flag: (if using DHCP)
