Wireless network fails to consistently connect

have a private wireless network set up between a Gateway desktop and a
Gateway laptop. Upon occasion, completely random, the laptop will not
connect to the network. I have to re-apply the wireless network setting on
the Net gear hardware. Any suggestion or ideas?
