Wireless Network setup

When using the wireless network setup wizard, the computer shuts down and
goes into a boot, shutdown, boot shutdown cycle that continues until I turn
it off and go back to a previous good setting.
I am using XP Home SP 2 on a Dell P-4, 2.8 GB, 512 Ram 6 month old PC.

And this has to do with Windows Update Web site and patches because ..... ?
