WL Messenger won't run after a fresh install

I'm trying to install WLMessenger on my desktop (Vista Home Premium SP2 with
2 gigs of RAM) because I just purchased two identical webcams and loaded the
Logitec ViD CD programs on 2 remotely located computers (both running
Vista). The Logitec installs went fine and the application seems to work
great except I can't seem to connect the 2 computers. I've concluded that in
order to make the video calls I (think I) need to use the features of
WLMessenger. One of the computers (a laptop) has a working version of
WLMessenger, but the other (a desktop) needs it installed. Thus this note.

After the WL Messenger install on the desktop, when the Messenger sign-in
window comes up, no matter how I try to sign into WLMessenger, I'm told that
my WLMessenger had to be shut down by Windows. I've tried the install at
least 5 times (with restarts in between uninstalls), with firewalls and
A/V's on or off, or Windows firewall off, etc.

One thing I notice is that isn't right is that I originally had a Windows
live ID that I'd forgotten about so I recently deleted it and re-assigned a
new Live ID (which works just fine to get my hotmail). As a matter of fact I
was able to get my Hotmail mail accessible inside my Windows Live mail, so I
know the new Live ID is working correctly.
But each time the WLMessenger sign-in window comes up it always tries to
start with the old live ID (that's already been deleted). I don't understand
why this old Live ID keeps coming up as the default.

No matter what or how I install WLMessenger, or what live ID I try to use to
sign into WLMessenger, Windows always shuts the program down. I'm sure not
being a WLMessenger user isn't helping me out much.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...............Paul C.

if you can try creating a second administrator account and trying WLM from that account could help you identify the problem.. i don't really think a username and password could stop the program from starting unless it's corrupted.. if that's the case it should work on the other session and if when it was encrypted it missed a part well you just need to find the files from the new admin account and delete them i don't know them, but i'll have a quick google.. if i find anything i'll edit my post

I'd just like to take this opportunity to inform everyone that 1) I was
wrong about needing WL Messenger to utilize my new Logitec webcams. We got
them to work with the Logitec Vid software; 2) I never was able to get WL
Messenger to work on my desktop computer. Windows just keeps shutting it
down.

Ok, now the rest of the tale; I decided to uninstall WL Messenger so I used
the Vista Uninstall feature to do this, however, I was offered another
possible solution when `Uninstall' started. I was offered a chance to
`Repair' what I thought was my WL Messenger software. So I chose that option
and lo and behold I found out that the repair option not only didn't repair
WL Messenger, but instead it wiped out all my WL Mail contacts and every
entry on my WL Mail Calendar. What a pain it was to restore those 2 items.
Good thing I hadn't wiped Windows Mail from my computer since I was able to
export about 80 % of the lost contacts and get them back onto WL Mail. The
calendar entries had to be completely recreated.
So beware that depending on where you download WL Messenger from, when you
go to uninstall it, DO NOT chose the `repair' option or you'll lose what I
lost.

Thanks...................Paul C.
