When I switch off the WLAN router and switch on back after a couple of
minutes, my desktop pc with Vista Home Premium cannot connect to the router
automatically or manuually until I re-boot the system. Is it the design of
Vista? I got experience that when I configure a new connection to the
router and I have to re-boot the system before the successful connection.
Any way I can speed up this process?

Thanks,

Scott

What make is your router and wifi card?

I use to get this a fair few times prior to installing SP1 for Vista. I
couldn't work out if it was a Vista problem or Netgear software on the
machine. I suspect a bit of both since the latest Netgear software and
SP1 run very well together.

Why not just leave the router on?

Two reasons: energy saving including prolonging the life of router &
environmental friendly including security
