The latest WLM stores the contacts in .edb files.
They are normally located under subfolders of
C:\Users\<yourlogin>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windo ws Live Contacts

Note: \AppData is normally hidden, and the folders under the above folder
are protected operating system files, so you won't see them until you change
the folder view settings.

Ok.....This has got to be the most convoluted program that I've experienced
since Windows 95! No offense to those trying to help out, but GIVE US A
BREAK!

Importing your e-mail contacts should be easy! Finding the backup folder
should be simple. I really have to wonder about where these programmers are
at. Do they ever have any contact with the real world and the hands-on
dynamics of daily life?

That being said: I'm wondering if I copy my 'DB' folder from WLM 9 in XP,
and paste (and replace) the new one in WLM 11, will I see my old contacts
show up?

Just a simple question from a simple man,

Oreally

Amazing. Winston and others have replied clearly here and at other
forums where you posted the same question. And you describe things as
convoluted. Good grief. I'll admit a strong dislike for WLM, but that's
based on my preferences and needs. But even I can't quibble with
importing contacts. Maybe you should just print out your contacts list
and retype them into WLM. Surely that would be straightforward, and
required significantly less help, than repeatedly asking the same
question and skipping over the replies that offer help and assistance.
Try using the LiveID account. You're the reason it was created.

Last time I'm going to repost the same info
- if you can't accomplish the following you might consider seeking a
qualified local support person (computer shop, friend, etc) to perform the
contact export/import task for you.

Go to your XP machine, open WLM09 and export your contacts to a csv file
and save them on a portable usb thumb drive.

Open WLM 11 on Win7, insert the thumb drive into a usb port on the Win7
machine and import the contacts from that csv file (on the thumb drive)
into WLM11.

WLM....especially WLM 11 was made for techno-junkies....not normal human
beings. Get Real! The people who put this together
there are arrogant geeks living in the ethers of their own supercilious
confusion and passing it on like a virus to the everyday computer user.

"techno-junkies" ... I'll give that to you if your baseline involves a
typewriter.

With each successive post you paint yourself into a small corner... a
VERY small corner. WLM 2011 is largely a cosmetic makeover of the
previous version.

We're at the point of labeling you a troll. You claim befuddlement at a
vanilla email app, yet you found a portal to Usenet... Maybe you're best
served by webmail...

FYI....I tried getting a 'qualified local support person' at Staples (where
I bought the 7 Pro system). They just told me that 'they had no idea how to
import the address book' and that WLM was 'basically garbage.'
