bj, your welcome.
Yes, it would have been nice if the Mark All Read was on the Home tab. The
logical place would have been next to the Unread/read option. I suspect it
is most likely on the Folders tab for two primary and another obvious (of
late) reasons.
1. Mail for Live Hotmail accounts using DeltaSync replicates 'Folders'
2. Real estate on the Home tab (its pretty full)
3. Very few MSFT people use nttp groups and have the tribal knowledge of
its use and history not to mention last years dropping of their nntp server
and sister community forum.

I suspect you're right. So little respect for their elders!
Of course, MS is going more & more to the "no you can't customize it, we
*know* how it's supposed to be" POV/practice. Thank goodness for the QAT
(hand word in ipod scrabble!) but that too will probably mutate into a
dodo-bird.
What I *really* dread is having to do everything in the cloud, online, in
clunky web interfaces. Text is so much easier & faster!

With respect to the '<' on text replies. It's gone. Html inserts a vertical
bar for prior replies, but nothing in plain text. The option was removed
entirely from WLM11 (it was present in the betas- public and private, but
didn't work - apparently not choosing to fix it-low priority and removed it
in the final WLM11 release). Oddly enough, for Hotmail type accounts that
feature remains in the web ui when replying in plain text.

Isn't progress grand?
It can be so...*regressive*.
That's why I so often cringe when I hear some product I like is being
"improved" -- I know they're probably about to ruin it.
I will just have to try to remember to put separators in myself, & hope I
don't screw it up too badly. (I'm already being told off here & there....)
Thanks again.

(I knew that much!)
I am gradually rebuiling my filters -- even if I could import from the old
machine it's time to do a start-over & get rid of the old stuff/dead wood,
arrange things more organizedly, etc.

THANK YOU! that was exactly what I was looking for.
I hate that it's on *another* tab, not the main tab.

clickable icon.

Thank you again, I've done that. Now if only the QAT icons were big enough
for Senior Eyes to actually *see*. But it's a help & I'll get used to it.
(W7 is driving me nuts with "you can't DO that!" messages!)
I see that WLM2011 doesn't <sigh> put the >> marks in for quoting; damn
nuisance.
(or have I missed another setting somewhere?)

Is there a way to "mark all as read" somewhere?
I'm not seeing it.
Thanks.
