WLM 2009 and 80072ef3 error

Hi All,
just after upgrading WLM from version 8.0 to 2009 I can't sign in anymore.

I'm behind a squid proxy with Basic Authentication Required.

Previous versions of WLM worked well.

The error that appears is "Error Code: 80072ef3".

Could someone help me ? I can't use WLM anymore.

I forgot to specify the exact version: 14.0.8050.1202 . I hope this could help.

I also have this problem. I was running 8.5 of Live Messenger without
problem, since the upgrade to WLM 2009 I have been getting this error and
unable to sign in. The troubleshooter appears to have problems with the
Ports, perhaps it's a proxy issue?

I'm having the same problem. I'm through a proxy. WLM 2009 works well at home
with direct connection to internet, I cannot say the same here at work with
proxy, WLM 8.5 worked, but no WLM 2009

I am having the same problem also. The new messenger has worked fine for over
a week, and I was signed in this morning. I got disconnected and ever since
it won't sign back in, reporting that contact list is not available.
I can sign in on another computer using the previous version of messenger,
but not with the new one.
Has anyone managed to resolve this yet?
If not I'll be looking to downgrade again with the hope that it will work
again and not leave my system with this problem even then.

I ended up downgrading. Bit of a pain as I had to go further back than I
wanted, as I couldn't find a redist for the newer ones, they're all web
installers that aren't proxy aware. It worked fine through our proxy for a
while, then stopped, so I'm not convinced it's a proxy error. More likely
something stpid. The older ones work fine.

I have the same problem. I connect via a proxy too. The WLM 2009 works very
well after the installation. But since 21/01/2009, the messenger cannot
connect anymore! with the above error code. Hopes MS do something cause I
don't want to downgrade.

i'm in a corporate environment behind proxy as well. Also faced the same issue.

Solved it by adding https://*.contacts.msn.com under IE trusted sites and
*.contacts.msn.com under Proxy settings>Exceptions.
