From WLM 2011 to 2009

Is it possible to only revert the WLM 2011 portion of WLE 2011 back to the
WLM 2009 version or will I have to delete WLE 2011 to be able to install
all of WLE 2009? With 2011 installed I have gone to a site to at least
download
WLE 2009 but it recognizes I already have 2011 and won't give me the
download
option.

It is my understanding that WLE updates as a unit. If you have both Windows
Live Mail, and any other WLE component, they must all be on the same
revision level. When I updated from WLMail 2009 to 2011, the installer also
updated WLMessenger, as well. If I had any of the other "Essentials", I
assume those would have also been updated to 2011.

No Mix and Match..
Uninstall all, recheck again that no Live items show up in Add-Remove(XP)
or Programs and Features(Win7/Vista/WS2008) e.g. Active X for Live Mesh
Restart
Delete the Windows Live folder in Program Files
Download and install WLE 2009 installer
Double click to start the install
- ensure you choose the option that permits selection of applications or
all will be installed.

To download 2009........(see the Note at the bottom about the language code
if not using the English version)
Windows Live Essentials 2009
- For XP SP2, Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008
- Direct download Links:
Full Version Installer English Language version
http://g.live.com/1rewlive3/en/wlsetup-all.exe
Web Version Installer – English Language Version
http://g.live.com/1rewlive3/en/wlsetup-web.exe

- Microsoft Web Site links(web installer version)
http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials-xp

System Requirements:
http://explore.live.com/windows-live...m-requirements

Note: Direct download links above are for the English language installer.
For a different country replace the 'en' with the local language code.

If Vista, you can go back to Windows Mail and retain non-mail 2011 apps.

Thanks for that info, Winston. I forwarded it to my friend who is also not
too happy with WLM 2011. As for myself, however, I now find those senders I
blocked with the Spam icon now finally appear to being blocked so I guess
I'll stay with WLE 2011. I don't know what happened almost a week went by
with "blocked" senders still arriving in my Inbox. I did a Windows update
yesterday. Perhaps that's what caused my blocked senders to finally
becoming actually blocked?

Panic,
You're welcome.
WU or MU (Windows or Microsoft update) does not provide anything related to
the Junk Mail filter or engine in Windows Live Mail(any version).

Fyi...check your blocked senders list periodically..in some spam cases, the
headers may be falsified by placing your email address as the
sender(possibly harvested from use on the net, in public newsgroups or from
another's address book).....thus its possible(in any email client) to block
one's own address.
- Does it happen often, no..but most would fall in the BTDT group.

Thanks for your clear, precise instructions. I followed them and had success in reverting to Windows Live Mail version 2009. It worked the first try. Version 2011 was terrible on my Netbook - the tool bars took up too much of the limited screen space.

FWIW, it's a simple matter to turn off unwanted toolbar (ribbon) in 2011.
