Even I'm going to restart my computer and there have the same situation.
I make sure I always to set WLM to remember my login information.
In google I get this problem cause by Yahoo Toolbar for sure and I want to
know how to fix it and except using windows system restore .

Greetings FYu,

Oh I could kiss you (consider the offer open), this was the missing part of the puzzle.

I've now managed to figure it out. You can find the tool to fix this here:

HI, Jonathan,

Alas, it doesn't work for me. Ran it twice, rebooting after each time.
Messenger still looses sign-in after a reboot :-(

It, did, however, very nicely wipe all of my passwords from Outlook Express.
Was this an intended byproduct of your repair program?

Hi Zootal,

Sorry to hear that. If you could contact me so we could trade notes, that would be great.
In all recent cases of this problem, the credential store (which both Messenger and Outlook
Express use for this) was not functional and so there was no need to worry about OE's
passwords.

However, the tool does create a backup .reg file for the Protected Storage area of the
registry which you can just reimport that more than likely will restore the passwords.
You'll find this under backup1.reg in the \Documents and Settings\username\Local
Settings\Temp folder. Probably be best just to type them back in though as I can't guarantee
that the info here is still valid (since Windows re-generates the encryption, which was the
point).

Worst case scenario, just use System Restore to restore back to yesterday and all will be
back to normal. Although I wouldn't recommend storing passwords in OE exclusively for safe
keeping (been there, done that).

Hi Dan,

Messenger stores its username and passwords in the windows credential store. You can quickly
see these by running:
rundll32.exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr
from Explorer's Run dialog.

You can also use the cmdkey.exe utility included in the Server 2003 Resource Kit (and in
Vista/7 by default).

The store is file based at %appdata%\microsoft\credentials (feel free to clear them out if
you wish and don't mind losing what's in there).

To address your other question, the tool is based on months of research, work and testing.
It in fact makes 11 different changes (depending on operating system and what's there), does
some editing of ACLs, and requires knowledge of windows locations if you were to do it
manually. I have no doubt that you could handle this quite easily, but my time would be
better spent dealing with more situations where there's obviously another problem (like in
Zootal's case).

This is actually the 5th version of this tool, but just the first version I've felt confident
enough about to release to the public (and after getting the green light from others who've
helped tested everything up till now). I'll be the first to accept there are conditions I
haven't been able to address yet. I'll personally give my attention to anyone where this
tool isn't working right now - just send me an e-mail.

I learned, a long time ago, to read what the update software offers to do. I
just ran the updater, and it offered to "Customize" the update. I was able
to decline the Yahoo! Toolbar, the offer to change my default search engine
to Yahoo!, and one other item, which I don't recall. Three boxes, total, to
uncheck.

It was a button, labeled, "Customize". It was a subdued color, smaller in
size, in a box upper right on the menu; easy to miss if you were in a hurry.
The "Update Now" button (not really sure if that was the label) was larger,
more prominently displayed bottom-center, and bright yellow.
