G'day all,

Has anyone else come accros this problem?
About every other week (sometimes sooner), all my contacts dissappear from
the configured contact groups and are only visible under the Other Contacts
group. So not bound anymore.
This has been happening só often that I decided to stop using the groups
completely. However, after a couple of 'groupless' weeks I'm getting more
and more annoyed with searching for contacts (big contact list, lots of
people with the same name).

I can't find anything on it on either Live search or Google.

Known issue?

Regards,

Bas Penris

I have similar problems. Groups disappear and my contacts from that group
will appear in another group which may or may not be the "other contacts"
group. Yesterday 25 of my "friends" appeared in another group after the
friends group disappeared. I renamed the full group to friends and moved the
2 that didn't belong to a new group with its appropriate name and all looked
fine for a few hours. now i just noticed that my friends has only 3
contacts, "other contacts" has 11 and a 3rd group is up from about 10 to
almost 30.

WTF

Leon

I've had the same problem with XP and windows live v2009.
Not a problem with Vista, however.
I've tried numerous things on XP to get the contacts to display (not
even new additions display).
It is NOT drive permissions as the other person mentioned earlier.
Personally, I think it is Microsoft's way of pressuring people to move
to Vista by forcing an incompatibility issue... but, as usual, give it a
couple months and MS will create a patch for XP users due to our crying
and whining.

Look, I really am annoyed at this... If anyone has any solution what s
ever I would really, really appreciate it. I have even made a ne
account and added a few amount of contacts and got a few others to ad
me as a test. So far neither have worked. The people that added me hav
and I have no invite to accept. The others haven't had an invite t
accept... This is really annoying... I need to know how to sort it ou
because I'm starting to get annoyed with 8.1 and 8.5 as they constantl
turn off at random points..

And if it is their way of moving us to Vista... They should be feelin
sorry for themselves right now..

If anyone does find a solution I will be eternally greatfu

The solution is really quite what you'd expect with Microsoft..sigh..

1. Simply UNINSTALL the CURRENT Windows Live Messenger 2009 (such as
version 14.0.8064.0206)
2. Install the PREVIOUS Windows Live Messenger 2008 (such as version
12.0.1471.1025) -- download link:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...d-4b0b14186556

...do this for both systems and you'll be ok.
There is a little-known issue with Vista and showing your Live
contacts... how stupid, huh?!!
