In Win7, the same contact folder location is present as in Vista.
C:\Users\<your windows id>\Contacts
- this is for backward compatibility to Vista
That folder is not used by WLM nor should it. No pre Vista Msft email client stored contacts in a Contacts folder(in OE they were
and wab file).
Windows Mail(in Vista stored contacts as individual files). WLM stores all contacts in a single database. Contacts in Windows Live
are only accessible in WLM and WLMsgr and the web UI(contacts.live.com for a Live ID), thus storing WLM Contacts in that folder
offers little benefit(the database and subfolders are hidden, system protected files).
If your Contacts(after an upgrade to Windows 7 from Vista or use of the Easy Transfer Wizard after a clean install) reside in
C:\Users\<your windows id>\Contacts
Then Windows 7 should see that folder as a Contacts folder(in Vista, one had the option to Customize the folder as a Contacts
folder)
The toolbar should have an option to Export. Export to a *.CSV file, Open WLM,click Contacts, then import the *.CSV file
- alternative, if using a Live ID....Import using the web ui(contacts.live.com click Manage, Import, follow the prompts)
