Greetings Bill,

It sounds like something at startup is trying to do something with Messenger and causing it
to crash. You might consider using a tool like autoruns:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb963902.aspx

....to unselect some things at startup and try and isolate what's causing it.

Hi,

I had a Win 7 crash Saturday and afterwards my WL programs are all broken;
repairing, uninstalling, reinstalling, same results. Gallery sort of works
but says it has crashed. Messenger is dead, mail is dead. Mail is the
critical thing - a dozen years of OE then WLM and thousands of emails I can't
afford to lose, let alone not get at.

Thanks,

Ron

Did you find a resolution to this problem as of yet? Just wondering cause I
have exactly the same issue since I installed Windows 7 x64... Have this
even with clean installation with only Windows 7 and WLM; During logon WLM
crashes for almost 99 % of the time;... Whenever I try loading it manually,
it'll always works till I relogon into the system...
Hopefully you had find a way to resolve this issue

Kind regards

Tom

I've found that if you run WLM in compatibiltiy mode of Vista SP2 it works
without crashing at least on my machine. You loose some of the pinned
functionality that you would have under Win7 but at least it doesn't crash.
I love that Microsoft is making this huge push for people to go x64 yet they
don't have all of there applications and tools supporting it yet.

FYI -

Log out of WLM and close down the app. Go to Start/Programs/Windows Live -
Then Right Click on WLM and select properties. Once there you can click on
the Compatibility tab and run it as Vista SP2. Do this for all users if you
have more than one on your computer. Reboot the computer and it should load
without crashing, and it will load the taskbar icon directly now instead of
hiding it in the list.
