hi, I came across a problem a couple of nights ago where messenger had
disconnected me and I kept getting the error message when I tried to re sign
in for a while that I wasn't connected to the internet. after a while though
it worked again. only after signing into web messenger through hotmail and
then resigning into the client. anyweay. somewhere along the line it messed
up the sounds that I have when contacts sign in. is there any way to correct
this?

Hey SkyWolfe

I assume you've already tried this and didn't just mention it, but did you try just going
into the Messenger options, Sounds option and reset them there?

yeah I have. so far at least today anyway everything is working. but that
seems to happen every once in a while where the sounds don't come on
automaticaly either until a messenger restart or a computer restart. I used
to have that problem alot with XP where the sounds would be kind of hit and
miss but this is a new one with vista.

Hi,

Given how often we hear of this problem, I doubt it's limited to a specific OS or just you.
Am I correct in saying that if you reboot when this happens it starts working again (it's
been awhile and searching was getting a bit tedious)?

Personally, I always turn the sounds off immediately after installation, so I can't really
comment personally
