When trying to switch from Calendar to Newsgroups and viesa-versa, I started
receiving this error about 2 days ago and it does not go away? Any ideas...

Using Windows 7 (x86); SP1. Windows Live Mail 2011 (Build 15.4.3508.1109).
Switching between Calendar and News does not cause me any problems. Remove
and replace your news server?

Thanks for responding.

I solved the problem. It seems there are two versions of WLM . I don't know
the Ver#'s but they be distinguished as one version shows the Send/Receive
tab on the top Toolbar (This is the good one). The other has no Send/Receive
button, you have to hit F5 to refresh for new mail. This I believe is the
newer one and has problems.

Somehow I updated to the newer one and things went Haywire.

I reinstalled the older version and all problems have been resolved...Art

Hi, Art.

I'm glad you got it fixed, but we need to correct/clarify something you
said:

> It seems there are two versions of WLM .

There have been MANY versions of WLM (Windows Live Mail - and not even
counting Windows Live Messenger).

The two most-used versions now are:
Windows Live Mail 2009 (Build 14.0.8117.416, aka WLM 14, aka Wave 3) which
you used for your OP yesterday.
Windows Live Mail 2011 (Build 15.4.3508.1109, aka WLM 15, aka Wave 4), which
you (and I) are now using.

WLM 2011 is the current version. It uses the Ribbon UI that was first
introduced in Microsoft Office 2007. It has a number of faults, which have
been discussed at length here and elsewhere, but its strengths out weigh the
weaknesses, in my opinion. It will not run on WinXP.

Many (most?) users don't like WLM 2011 when they are first confronted with
the Ribbon. Neither did I, until I discovered the QAT (Quick Action
Toolbar) and learned how to customize it to fit me, so most of the commands
that I use often take just a single mouse-click. Now I would find it
difficult to go back to an earlier version.
