Greetings,
Just some feedback on your "solutions" here, which I'm afraid are mainly all myth and won't
do anything.
1 -- If you delete that "Messenger" folder, you will lose all your emoticons, display
pictures, winks, scenes and any other custom content. There is no reason to lose all this
contact (you could just move it back), even if proving to delete the other metadata here were
effective. Additionally, when you delete something, it is moved to the recycle bin. There
is no reason to empty it and lose your data inside until you're ready to do so.
2 -- You should not be unticking this box. Not only will this not solve your problem, but is
also will put you at the mercy of instant messaging spam. DO NOT DO THIS.
3 -- This is for Windows Messenger and one of the few things here which might work depending
on what your real problem is. However, if Windows Messenger is loading in the background,
you would be notified of this in a toast/alert window in the corner ("you have been signed
into another location"). Additionally, there are better ways of dealing with that then using
the GPO (which isn't even available on all Windows' versions anyway).
4 -- This won't hurt anything, but is rather useless, as if this were a problem, you wouldn't
be able to sign into Messenger in the first place.
