WLM keeps signing me out

Every 2 minutes or so Windows Live Messenger keeps signing me out for no
apparent reason. I have tried changing the settings on Zone Alarm, my
firewall, and even turning it off completely, so I know for sure that it is
not a firewall causing the problem.
I have also tried re-installing/repairing the program, and even completely
removing it from my computer then downloading it again.
No error messages appear; WLM just signs out of its own accord and leaves me
with the screen saying that it will reconnect in a certain time.
This happens on both Windows Live 8 and 8.1

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

I have been having the same problem and have been for quite some time. it is
rather frustrating when trying to hold a conversation, whether it be for
business or personal. Any help would be appreciated.

Well I finally discovered this but hope it helps...

Solution (1)
shut down Windows Live Messenger.

Click Start
Click Run
Enter: %appdata%\microsoft
Click OK.

Then right click the MSN Messenger folders, choose Delete, and then
confirm the operation.Remember to clear your recycle bin too.

Solution (2)
Click Tools > Options > Privacy
Untick the TICK in the box "ONLY PEOPLE ON MY ALLOW LIST CAN SEE MY
STATUS AND SEND ME MESSAGES"

Solution (3)

1) Click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc, and then press ENTER

2) Double-click the following items to expand them:

Local Computer Policy

Computer Configuration

Administrative Templates

Windows Components

Windows Messenger

3) Double-click on the option "Do not allow Windows Messenger to run",
and then click Enabled.

4) Click OK, and then close the window

Solution (4)

Click Start, then Run, and enter the following:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
( remember the space after 32)

Greetings,

Just some feedback on your "solutions" here, which I'm afraid are mainly all myth and won't
do anything.

1 -- If you delete that "Messenger" folder, you will lose all your emoticons, display
pictures, winks, scenes and any other custom content. There is no reason to lose all this
contact (you could just move it back), even if proving to delete the other metadata here were
effective. Additionally, when you delete something, it is moved to the recycle bin. There
is no reason to empty it and lose your data inside until you're ready to do so.

2 -- You should not be unticking this box. Not only will this not solve your problem, but is
also will put you at the mercy of instant messaging spam. DO NOT DO THIS.

3 -- This is for Windows Messenger and one of the few things here which might work depending
on what your real problem is. However, if Windows Messenger is loading in the background,
you would be notified of this in a toast/alert window in the corner ("you have been signed
into another location"). Additionally, there are better ways of dealing with that then using
the GPO (which isn't even available on all Windows' versions anyway).

4 -- This won't hurt anything, but is rather useless, as if this were a problem, you wouldn't
be able to sign into Messenger in the first place.

I have done all 4 of those solutions and none of them work.

I have Vista home premium 32 bit and using WLM 2009 (latest version)

I've uninstalled the program and reinstalled it thrice and still it
keeps signing me out almost immediately after I sign in.

Hi,

Sounds like a bug in Messenger, or perhaps a problem in one of your network devices.
However, just out of curiosity, what sort of internet connection do you have (dialup,
broadband, etc.)?

I have a wireless broadband connection

Messenger worked perfectly fine up until I created a group

Then I removed the group and it worked perfectly fine again

This isn't a problem with my Internet or my computer, this some form o
conflict between the groups and messenger. I found the solution throug
a google search
